It is hard to Belize (or believe) that we have only had two full days on this amazing adventure! Each of those two days have been filled to the brim with activities at the Lamanai Outpost. We have gotten to hike through Mayan ruins, old Spanish churches, and a British settlement sugarmill! We’ve been on sunrise hikes, evening hikes, and photography hunts; relaxing morning canoe rides; a sunset cruise; and late night spotlight searches of the river; as well as swimming and tubing in the river.
All of these activities have been punctuated by unforgettable wildlife encounters. We have seen crocodiles, rare birds, coatimundi, a river otter, howler monkeys, tarantulas, snakes, and so much more.
We have not let the heat, or the rain get to us. The positive attitude of the group and morale is high! And the games we have been playing to get to know each other are fostering long lasting friendships already. So many memories have been made, and so many more to make still.
